Hydro, our wholesale purchases are primarily made
in BC, Alberta and the western US. With the ability to
access the flexibility of the BC Hydro system, doing business
with Powerex is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Within BC, Powerex can purchase energy and generation from Independent Power
Producers (IPP's), industrial customers with surplus generation, and other BC
electric utilities.
Our provincial power purchase portfolio is comprised of customized contracts
of varying sizes, terms, generation-profiles and fuel sources. Powerex purchases
firm, unit contingent and interruptible energy and/or capacity. Being
situated on the West Coast makes us aware of delicate environmental issues.
Renewable resources such as hydro, wood-waste, methane, municipal and construction
waste fuel form a portion of the generation we buy.
